Washington DC – The National Association of Manufacturers has launched a six-figure television and digital advertising campaign calling for reforms in which pharmacy benefit managers communicate prescription drug discounts directly to workers and employers. This campaign highlights how these insurance company-owned intermediaries contribute to soaring medical costs and drug prices by obtaining deep discounts from drug companies rather than passing them on to the American workforce. The focus is on what is going on.
“For too long, America's manufacturing workers have struggled with rising health care costs driven by insurance company-owned PBM intermediaries,” said Jay Timmons, president and CEO of NAM. ” he said. “PBMs hide deep discounts from prescription drug manufacturers, rather than passing them on to workers and employers, because manufacturers are committed to providing quality health care benefits to their employees. , reforms are needed to stop insurance company-owned PBMs from maintaining discounts and driving up prescription drug costs.”
