A man was arrested Saturday after allegedly trying to break into Taylor Swift's New York City apartment in Tribeca.
An NYPD spokesperson told Page Six that officers received a call about a “disabled person” on Franklin Street.
“Upon arrival, [police] “We received a report that the individual attempted to open a door to a building at that location,” the spokesperson added.
Police have not confirmed that the man, whose identity has not yet been released, was attempting to break into Swift's home, but another source said they saw the suspect attempting to enter Swift's home. I admit that I did it.
“The first time I saw him was around 1 p.m. He walked up to Taylor's door,” the witness said.
“I don't know if he knocked on the door or rang the doorbell.”
The source also said the person was seen searching the neighborhood, particularly the area where Swift lives, “for several weeks.”
A second source who lives nearby also exclusively tells Page Six that the same man was seen “lurking here for a month.”
They said he “slept hunched over, chain-smoked constantly, screamed loudly, and generally made everyone uncomfortable.”
“When I arrived before Christmas, my husband asked me what I was doing here and he said, 'I want to see Taylor,'” the neighbor claims. “At one point he even had flowers.”
Other residents said they called police “numerous times” but officers did nothing until the man actually tried to enter the building.
“This morning I asked him to leave and he just looked at me in a catatonic state,” the neighbor added. “He's a total lunatic.”
When police arrived in several patrol cars around 1:45 p.m. ET, the first official said, the officers spoke with the stalker for “several minutes before handcuffing him.”
“It was all a very peaceful incident,” said an eyewitness. “He didn't resist. There was no yelling or anything like that.”
Photos obtained by Page Six show a bearded person with shaggy brown hair receiving an appointment.
He was wearing a tan hoodie, khaki pants, a navy blue jacket and tan gloves.
Police told us that the suspect was arrested because there was an unrelated, active warrant for his arrest. He hasn't been released yet.
Page Six reached out to Swift's representatives for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
The 34-year-old pop superstar was still in the Big Apple, likely at home, when the alleged stalker attempted to break in.
