Tactical approach for affiliate managers
Lee-Ann asks Parul. “What tactical approach or strategy would you advise an affiliate manager who is listening to this?” You talked about the fact that you don't really need language, but you do need imagery. ”
Parul said, “One of the really big differentiators between Europe and Asia, which is a big industry in the gaming industry, is the ability to buy and the initial deposit, because Europe is pretty small. Here in Asia. What you really want to focus on in countries is the lifetime value of the customer, not the first deposit. So I think this is also one of the things that I really emphasize for brands in the European market. If you have a percentage of the value of a lead or first deposit, you should actually reduce that by a factor of 10 at the time of the first deposit.''
What should I test?
Leanne sums it up as follows: We're hearing in Asia that we need to test and learn and then scale and get to a point where we can actually see metrics of its value. This is very different from the way we think here in the European market or in the US, especially for acquisition marketers. Because we're always tasked with what is the first purchase, average basket value, or first deposit option. We always focus on the first indicator, but perhaps it's a case of a change in mindset. Thinking about your local market in a way that makes sense for that local market.
“What would you suggest to a client entering the Asian market to test? Because you can't test everything in one month.”
Parul said: “We recommend splitting your year-long test into four quarters. If you don't change anything every quarter, you won't disrupt your marketing program. For example, you've decided to pay, you've decided to convert, and so on. .Flow test your changes for three months before implementing them.. Test your changes for an additional three months before implementing them to evolve your affiliate program with stable metrics. ”
What happens if my campaign fails?
Lee-Ann asks Parul. “You mentioned earlier that the metrics referenced in affiliate programs in Europe are not necessarily the same as those in the Asian market. But what if the campaign fails? How motivated are you to run the campaign again? If things don't work out for both of you, will that affect your relationship?”
Parul explains: “Here, as everywhere else in the world, if you can logically explain why something happened, publishers are very open and willing to try the same brand again. But there are certain things that shouldn't happen. If there is no logical reasoning at all as to why something happened, as a first step even we try to distance ourselves to be honest. But it is also very difficult to get the same publisher back. ”
