The North Carolina Education Lottery has reported a Pitt County man's second big win.
Winterville resident Christopher Mills celebrated his second big lottery win on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, after winning $200,000 in his second drawing.
Mills previously won $100,000 in a Winter Winnings scratch-off in December 2021.
“I can't believe lightning struck twice,” he said.
Mills learned she had won the grand prize in the 2023 Multiply the Cash Second Chance drawing when she received a lottery email notification. She received over 47 million entries for the lottery.
“I was shocked when I got the email, but I was so happy,” Mills said.
He arrived on February 7 to collect his winnings and took home $143,000 after making the necessary state and federal tax withholdings.
Mr. Mills has twin sons and recently graduated from Campbell University with a master's degree in business administration. He plans to use this victory to help pay for his sons' education expenses.
Players got a second chance by scanning their Multiply the Cash ticket into their lottery account and were automatically entered into the draw. Ms. Mills won the top prize in her fourth and final drawing of Multiply the Cash Second Chance for 2023.
