Kanspel Auto Light said that tackling illegal gambling operators will be a top priority for the Dutch Gambling Authority in 2024.
This statement follows the results of two investigations carried out by the Saudi Ministry of Defense regarding the advertising of illegal gambling offers through affiliate websites and online newspaper websites, with 14 out of 33 websites investigated. was found to be in violation.
Some websites also targeted people registered with the country's Central Register for the Exclusion of Gambling – Cruks, authorities said.
One KSA investigation focused on websites promoting illegal providers, targeting vulnerable players. Authorities investigated the most visited affiliate websites and found four websites to be in violation. A follow-up investigation into these websites was then initiated.
Another investigation looked into illegal online casino affiliate marketing, particularly in the wake of a ban on untargeted advertising that went into effect last July.
A total of 10 websites were found to be promoting illegal online casinos. Following KSA's proposed sanctions, five websites immediately stopped advertising, and investigations into the remaining five of his websites are still ongoing.
These investigations revealed that seven illegal online casinos were being advertised. The authorities have started a sanctioning process against all of them.
KSA added that six online newspapers were also contacted about affiliated companies promoting illegal operators. All of these news organizations immediately removed the offending ads from their respective websites.
