As senior digital marketing major Clinton Asante Addo sits at a table in Swigert Hall, nearly every student who passes by greets him. With a friendly smile and bright, curious eyes, Asante-Addo waved back and asked each of them how they were doing and what they were up to these days. These qualities are the ribbon Asante emblazoned on the packaging of his ad and his passion for helping others.
Asanteado had a passion for business from an early age. Although he was surrounded by medical professionals from an early age, he soon decided that this field was not for him.
I resold sneakers when I was in middle school. His success in this feat ignited a flame that has not been extinguished ever since.
Originally majoring in business administration, Asanteado wasn't sure what he wanted to pursue when it came to business and the various aspects that come with it. After taking a class on how social media and digital marketing are connected, Asanteado decided to change his major.
“I liked the idea of marketing, but I wanted to get more specific,” Asanteado said. “Digital marketing is new in many industries, and it's something companies are looking for. It's new, so it's in demand.”
Digital marketing combined Asante Addo’s passion for helping people with his love for business. By choosing newer areas in the business world, Asanteados have become in-demand workers with skills that are invaluable in the ever-changing world of business.
“[Digital marketing] I will cheer you up. People change, and often things change. Therefore, you should always innovate and think of ways to make your company stand out from the crowd,” Asante Addo said.
If there's one thing Asante-Addo knows how to do, it's stand out. To further his education in the business world, he became a brother of Delta Sigma Phi, Rider's coed business fraternity. Asante's Addo became involved after a brother came to his class to talk about his DSP activities and the benefits of belonging to the fraternity.
Asante Addo became a member in the spring of his sophomore year. Since then, he has held several leadership positions at DSP, including Vice President of Alumni Affairs, Fundraising Chair, and currently Vice President of Pledge Education. Mr. Asante Addo praised DSP for what the organization has taught him, sharing that the organization has given him confidence and enabled him to become a well-rounded professional.
Lauren Turnbull, an elementary finance major and current president of DSP, has known Asante Addo since the two of them quickly formed the fraternity. Since becoming brothers, the two have worked closely together, attending events, recruiting potential new members, and working to ensure the prosperity of the fraternity and its new members in their current roles. I did.
Mr Turnbull said: “Mr Clinton and I are working closely together to facilitate the education process for the new vows that we hope will become our brothers.'' [Vice president of pledge education] This is one of the more important roles after the recruitment process is complete, as it prepares potential new members to become brothers and be accepted into the fraternity. ”
This role has been a sweet spot for Asante-Addo. His job, both professionally and academically, boils down to helping others. Asante-Addo is currently interning at Capital Health. He runs social media and works for Capital Health on his website for his Trenton area. He works as a tour guide on campus and was recently promoted to Manager on Duty at the Student Recreation Center.
Although he will graduate in May, Asante-Addo plans to return to Rider to earn a master's degree in business administration and hopes to find a full-time position at Capital Health.
After earning her master's degree, Asanteado hopes to work in several areas of her interest, including obtaining a real estate license and one day becoming a professor of digital marketing.
Until then, Asante Addo will focus on his brothers, his internships, and most importantly, fanning the flames of his passion: business and digital marketing.
