An investigation is underway after police shot and killed a suspected armed man who was harassing people in East Los Angeles late Friday night.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. when deputies were called to El Tio Tono Market near Pomeroy Street and North Eastman Avenue.
Upon arrival, they were confronted by a man who was allegedly armed with a metal pole.
The circumstances that led to the shooting of the deputies remain unclear.
No information was provided on the victim's condition, but the victim appeared dead on the sidewalk outside the market, according to Sky Cal news agency that flew over the scene.
No deputies were reportedly injured in the incident.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., LASD reported that a crowd had begun to form in the area in an attempt to engage deputies, forcing deputies to establish a larger perimeter around the incident scene.
