Local sisters Colleen and Alana Reid have teamed up in Colleen's company Scunnered Digital to provide 'no-nonsense' marketing to businesses in Dunfermline.
Now, they have leveraged their years of experience working with top brands to launch 'Dive In Tae Digital' to help unemployed people and students get their foot in the door of digital marketing.
Colleen said: press: “I myself interned many years ago, and during that internship I learned the skills and knowledge I needed to break out in digital marketing.
“The training component of Dive In Tae Digital is honestly amazing. We teach you the exact strategies we used when working for major global brands. But what's really great is the paid placement component. .
“Young people these days can't get a job without a job, and they can't get a job without a job. We wanted to change that.”
Created and brought to you by Scunnered Digital, Alana and Colleen are passionate about using their hands-on experience to train 24 people aged 16 to 30 in the art of digital marketing.
She continued: “Entry-level positions in digital marketing typically require a degree, even if it’s not relevant. I know that I can be taught everything I need to be successful in marketing, but for me it’s always irrelevant. I feel it's fair.
“By upskilling the unemployed, Dive In Tae Digital opens the door to natural talent and makes digital marketing a level playing field for everyone from all walks of life.”
After eight weeks of training with the Sisters, these interns will be paired with one of 24 selected Dunfermline companies in need of marketing support for a four-week paid internship .
And this plan will not only help those seeking a change of career path, its aim is not only to help those directly involved, but to bring about change in the community and hopefully create long-term marketing within the city. It's about creating a role.
Alana said: “I’m really looking forward to starting this program, but what excites me even more is the ripple effect it will have on local businesses.
“When 24 companies ramp up their marketing strategies at the same time, it’s not just a game changer, it’s a community-wide transformation. It creates long-term solutions, not just immediate profits. ” Your business can continue to thrive for months (and hopefully years) to come.
“Our hope is that some companies will see the true value of investing in marketing and take advantage of this program to create long-term digital jobs.”
Dunfermline Regional District Council provided funding to Dive In Tae Digital on behalf of Fife Council and Opportunity Partnership Fife.
Chairman James Calder added: “Dunfermline City Area Council is delighted to support the Marketing Internship Project with Scunnered Digital.”
“It’s great to see local businesses launching projects that provide skills development and practical work experience for young people in our community, with the aim of increasing better employment opportunities. ”
Applications for the Dive In Tae Digital internship scheme are now open and close at 12pm on Wednesday 27th March.
