Jamestown, NY – Chautauqua County Economic Growth Partnership (CCPEG) and the County Collaborators at the Chautauqua Industrial Development Authority (CCIDA) have announced the launch of a new multi-year marketing campaign. The initiative, called “Live CHQ,” will focus on attracting and retaining talent by focusing on quality of life aspects and career opportunities in Chautauqua County.
“Live CHQ primarily focuses on the best that the county has to offer, including affordability, job opportunities, and cultural and entertainment attractions, and seeks to attract new professional talent from outside the county. The idea is to promote the county to the people who live there, with a variety of outdoor recreation options.” Said mark guiss, Deputy County Economic Development Administrator and CCIDA CEO. “As part of our talent retention efforts, we will be reminding our current residents of the benefits of living in Chautauqua County.”
The campaign is modeled after a similar talent attraction and retention marketing effort in Buffalo known as the “Be in Buffalo” campaign. This effort was led by Invest Buffalo Niagara, which also provided support in the initial planning of the Live CHQ campaign.
The main component of Live CHQ is a new website, LiveCHQ.org. This website provides information to the public about the various quality of life aspects offered by the county, as well as the employment resources and business development opportunities found throughout the county. of The campaign also aims to support local businesses, businesses and nonprofits in all sectors by informing prospective employees about what the county has to offer.
“Many local businesses and nonprofits need more skilled talent and experienced employees to fill open jobs. However, the number of candidates who currently live in the county Recruiting individuals for these positions can be difficult due to the high demand for skilled labor compared to the United States. We are particularly familiar with the business community and what Chautauqua County has to offer. “We encourage people to use the website to support recruitment efforts outside of areas where there are no.” Nate Aldrich, Chautauqua County Economic Development Coordinator and CCPEG Manager.
CCIDA and CCPEG have engaged Buffalo-based Block Club to develop a live CHQ campaign following an RFP process in late 2022. Block Clubs then visited counties throughout 2023 during the “discovery phase” of the campaign, meeting with key stakeholders and working to develop a live CHQ. This has determined its focus on young families, active adults, and professionals with a passion for the outdoors, his recreation and sports. Individuals with cultural/community experience who currently reside outside of Chautauqua County. Current county residents are the second target group. Block Club also designed a “Choose your Adventure” theme that incorporated “CHQ” into the message of each ad. The company also designed specific digital advertising assets for the campaign, along with promotional video ads.
The website was designed by Clevermethod, also based in Buffalo. In addition to designing LiveCHQ.org, Clevermethod, along with other partner agencies Chautauqua Regional Economic Development Corporation (CREDC) and Chautauqua County Capital Resources Corporation (CRC), designed ChooseCHQ, a new website for CCIDA and CCPEG. com was also developed.
Funding for the Live CHQ campaign came from American Rescue Plan Act funds provided to CCPEG by Chautauqua County, a multi-year grant from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation, and CCIDA's general marketing budget. Support for this campaign development was provided by Chautauqua County Government and Chautauqua County Tourism, as well as various organizations and attractions within Chautauqua County.
“What we want to emphasize is that this is not a panacea that will suddenly reverse the decades of population decline that our county and the entire Western New York region have experienced. Our hope is that this will help other When combined with other initiatives, this will become a valuable tool to steer population growth in a positive direction,” Gies explained. “The launch of Live CHQ is the culmination of a year of planning and development, and we are excited to see it rolled out and implemented.”
