Cut the Ribbon with the Chamber of Commerce at the New Casual Seafood Cafe
This week, the Santa Barbara Fish Market celebrated six months since its opening in Goleta.
The Santa Barbara Fish Market held an official ribbon cutting at its newest location last Wednesday, six months after the Santa Barbara Fisheries facility expanded to Goleta. A small group of attendees sampled fresh seafood platters as market employees, chef Paul Osborne and founder Brian Colgate interacted with Chamber members and other attendees.
The market has been providing fresh fish to the Santa Barbara community for more than 20 years, but in October the Goleta location, which features cafe-style dining, will open at The Shopping Mall, located across from Costco at 7127 Hollister Avenue Opened in the plaza.
Colgate and Osborn spoke about their Goleta roots, love for the community, and overall excitement about the expansion at a gala they held with the South Coast Chamber of Commerce.
“It's only been six months, so this is just the beginning,” Colgate said.
At the celebration, Goleta Mayor Pro Tempore Luz Reyes Martín and chamber members praised the new venture and emphasized the market's long-standing support of local restaurants with the quality of its fresh fish.
“We really hope you feel that love for Goleta. We are so happy to have you here and we hope you can be successful here,” Reyes Martín said. Ta.
The Santa Barbara Fish Market held a public grand opening party Saturday that included shucking raw oysters and shooting sea urchins at the live bar, as well as live music, a DJ, and special beer and wine sales.
