The talk focused on the current and future state of PC gaming and touched on several topics, including trends and studio layoffs. The topic of marketing came up during the talk, where Douse gave his honest opinion on this aspect of game development.
After the roundtable was published, Douse took to Twitter to further elaborate on what he meant by “marketing is dead” and shared some tips based on what his team learned while developing Baldur's Gate 3. Douse revealed in his very honest Twitter thread: “Yes, we don't have a trusted marketer, and I know that's weird. We paid the best agency in the industry a lot of money to try this shit, but… They didn’t come up with anything good.”
