COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A local company is working to make the art market more accessible to artists by lowering fees. Cronk Art & Curiosities co-owners Andrew Cronk and his Chris Dantzler founded Moon Market, a monthly marketplace open to artists and vendors of all kinds.
“We can still pay the venue and pay the marketing costs, but we've decided to keep the prices low enough that the artists aren't cornered with money,” said Andrew Conk.
The co-owners say profit is not their priority and they want artists to be able to make money with their craft.
“The methodology we have designed for Moon Market vendors is designed to minimize cost overhead for them and minimal excess cash for us; There’s no real benefit,” Chris Dantzler said.
Moon Market's low prices create a community among local artists, allowing them to connect and help each other, vendors say. Karilyn Harper, owner of Occult Herbs and Tonics, explained: To thrive. ”
Another artist said that many companies ended up joining forces and working together. And in April, Kaya Bacon, Moonmarket's social media manager and head of marketing, said: [spaces] And they keep getting bigger. ”
Bacon also said one of the best things about the market is that there are always so many people coming to shop there each month. Bacon, who is in charge of social media, said he has received many messages from new or first-time vendors saying how thrilled they are to see so many people.
While applications are released to the market every month and classic vendors appear almost every month, Cronk says they're always looking to bring in up-and-coming artists. Click here to learn more about Moon Market.
