Asia Startup Ecosystem and Initiatives, a NUS Enterprise company, has appointed Judson Teo as its new Group Head of Marketing and Startup Marketing Advisor.
In his new role, Teo will spend his time overseeing BLOCK71's brand strategy and advising founders on the marketing challenges facing startups, according to his LinkedIn page.
“Many years ago, when I was still in the civil service, the startup scene in Singapore and other countries was at a boiling point. Many of my friends went to join them, and I was surprised to see how the private sector, startups, and marketing were doing. I was very curious to see what it was like,” Teo wrote in a LinkedIn update.

“Very fortunately, I joined Grab and it was shocking. Even though it was already a very late-stage startup and just before IPO, it was a company that had never seen before. “I was exposed to growth marketing techniques,” he says. He added that this attracted him to experimentation, white space, and product launches.
“I think this is why I’m here today at BLOCK71, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with startup founders and thinking together about how to optimize their marketing strategies. “If there's one group of people, it's startup founders,” he said.
As part of his new role, Teo will be launching 'Marketing Mixology'. This is a new quarterly Marketing His workshop series aimed at helping startup founders strengthen their marketing strategies.
This series features a variety of marketing themes and brings in relevant experts to provide founders with practical guidance.
Although founders are adept at building products, many struggle with establishing product-market fit, marketing strategies, and effective go-to-market plans. Through “Marketing Mixology,” BLOCK71 said in a statement that it hopes to provide a support community for founders to specifically address these issues head-on.
BLOCK71 will launch Marketing Mixology in two phases. Launching pre-launch networking mixer in collaboration with UOB and SGTech. Officially announced at InnovFest.
Teo is an industry agnostic marketer with over 15 years of experience in broadcast, tourism, consumer staples and consumer technology. Prior to his role at BLOCK71, Teo was Head of Marketing (New Areas) at foodpanda, a role he held for just under two years.
Prior to that, Teo spent just under two years as Assistant Director of Growth and Engagement at FairPrice Group, where he led a team that challenged traditional marketing practices and tested new business white spaces to align with market demands.
Prior to working at FairPrice Group, Mr Teo worked at Grab, joining as assistant regional partner marketing manager in 2019 and rising through the ranks to become head of consumer marketing for Singapore in 2020.
During his career, he has also worked for companies such as Singapore Tourism Board and Cohn & Wolf.
