The campaign was so effective that it garnered 1 million views upon its launch and in fact, over 70 media outlets seriously and alarmingly reported that well-known actress Nora Fatehi had fallen victim to a cyber scam by a fictitious brand (one of which was later revealed to be a real creation for the campaign in which a deepfake video was also deployed).
Our conversations ranged from the approval process, the role of technology storytelling and the meticulous process of getting internal approval from the reputed bank to roll out the campaign. The entire process highlights HDFC Bank's proactive stance in tackling financial frauds by focusing first and foremost on responsibility, deploying and balancing the highly desirable traits of creativity and innovation in its strategic narrative, while always keeping the dignity, respect and purpose of a respected bank at the forefront.
Jahid also detailed the creation of deepfakes and fake domains to educate individuals about online scams, with a focus on raising awareness rather than selling products.
Jahid said that to make the campaign successful, discussions and collaboration between the two partners — HDFC Bank's digital marketing team and FCB Connect — was key, always with a focus on constructive ideas and alignment with the brand philosophy.
