kuala lumpur: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) is ready to assist local agri-entrepreneurs registered with the agency to improve their sales performance through digital marketing.
FAMA Director General Abdul Rashid Bahari said the agency is committed to helping FAMA entrepreneurs grow in line with global modernization trends.
“We are organising such programmes (online marketing) to enable FAMA entrepreneurs to advance at par with other successful entrepreneurs in the Asian region.
“This new online marketing method needs to be explored by FAMA entrepreneurs and is a trend that is becoming increasingly popular among buyers in the country. We hope that it will enable entrepreneurs to increase their income and customer reach,” he said at the launching ceremony of the Agro Marketing Master Class Programme: TikTok Shop Edition here yesterday.
He said the pilot program between TikTok Shop and City-Link Express will help train and mentor entrepreneurs to be more creative and sell higher-quality products.
Abdul Rashid said the agency plans to hold more similar training programmes for agri-entrepreneurs in future.
“If this programme is successful and we receive good response from entrepreneurs, we plan to hold another programme dedicated to marketing through e-commerce,” he said.
According to Nur Azre Abdul Aziz, head of strategic partnerships at TikTok Shop, the collaboration with FAMA could help local agri-entrepreneurs expand their sales footprint and product quality at a national level.
“To date, we have supported over 1.3 million entrepreneurs, 98 percent of whom are small and medium-sized enterprises.
“Supporting TikTok Shop will not only make local entrepreneurs more competitive, but it will also help raise awareness of their businesses and provide employment opportunities, especially in rural areas,” she said.
The program is a pilot project by FAMA, with 80 companies registered with FAMA participating.
The programme will be implemented in two groups, the first from June 7th to 9th and the second from July 5th to 7th, and will also involve entrepreneurs with disabilities (OKU).
Irwan Faireji Johari, 40, entrepreneur from Trendville Marketing and FAMA OKU, said the programme would help expand his business platform which focuses on selling different flavours of keropok (fried crackers) and frozen meals.
“I still have a lot to learn, but I’m excited to learn because now everything is (purchased) online, from spices to soy sauce, so we also need to learn how to improve our marketing and advertising content,” said Irwan Fairuzi, who has lived with the neurological disorder for 10 years.
