IntelliAM AI, a Sheffield-based software company that harnesses the power of AI and machine learning in manufacturing, has secured six-figure funding.
It was confirmed The subsidiary has been designated a ‘Lighthouse for AI’ and approved for a Digital Innovation Fund (DIF) Lighthouse Funding Award of approximately £263,000 for a research project due to be completed during the company’s current financial year.
The grant for research into the application of AI in lubrication analysis will be provided by the Smart Manufacturing Data Hub, which is funded by Innovate UK.
IntelliAM AI has access to over 180 manufacturing sites across the UK and has lubrication analysis results for thousands of components going back over the last decade. Lubrication is one of the main causes of manufacturing downtime.
Using existing data from IntelliAM and new data collected during the project, machine learning models (MLMs) will be created to advise OEMs and SMEs on best practices for component lubrication.
Software was built that allows component information to be input and the MLM will automatically generate lubrication schedules for grease and oil.
Software will also be built to create an on-condition lubrication schedule based on the condition of the bearings.
Also, An Oil Analysis Results Checker will be created, allowing organizations to upload their individual oil analysis results and compare them with IntelliAM AI's 10-year history. Problems are highlighted and advice is given on how to address them.
IntelliAM AI explains: “The project will help reduce machine downtime for manufacturing equipment and make the UK more resilient to current degradation of engineering skills.”
“It increases sustainability because you only replenish oil when you need it.”
“This project will impact the company in three ways: increased internal productivity, new access to machine learning for SMEs, and a commercial product that will drive sales.”
