Police have released the names of four members of the same family, along with a man and a woman who died in a crash involving a car and a motorcycle.
West Yorkshire Police said Shane Lawler, 33, his partner Shannan Morgan, 30, and their daughters Ruby and Lily Morgan-Lawler, aged nine and four, were murdered near Wakefield on Sunday afternoon.
Police are yet to release the names of the motorbike driver and passenger, who died at the scene on the A61.
The family group were travelling in a Ford Focus which is believed to have burst into flames during the crash, which happened at about 3.54pm.
A Gofundme page set up for his 11-year-old daughter, who was not in the car, had raised more than £60,000 by Monday afternoon.
The fundraising page read: “We are reaching out to you all with broken hearts and pleading for help.
“On July 21, 2024, a tragic car accident took the lives of (the surviving girl's) entire family – her beloved mother, father and two sisters.
“At just 11 years old, she lost her entire world in an instant.”
Ms Lawler's brother Callum posted on Facebook on Sunday: “So sad and will miss you all so much!”
“My heart is completely broken and so are both of our families!”
“You all had such kind hearts and I will miss you so much!
“My heartfelt condolences go out to Shannen's family and my family. We are all in great shock.”
Horrifying pictures taken from the scene show the badly damaged carriageway between Staincross in Barnsley and New Millardam in Wakefield.
Detective Superintendent Alan Travis, from Wakefield District Police, said: “This is an extremely tragic incident which has seen six lives lost.”
“Our hearts go out to the families of those who have passed away as we work together to provide support at this time.”
He told reporters the road would likely remain closed for some time to come.
He thanked the police, fire and emergency services who worked at the scene.
