Alabama State University's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is offering a training program to help entrepreneurs in the Montgomery and River Regions. The Zoom class, which begins Aug. 1, will feature a GoDaddy component and focus on how participants can use digital marketing to grow their business.
Andrea Rogers-Mosley, executive director of the college's SBDC, said the center's goal is to create new small businesses and strengthen existing ones in the community. All SBDC courses and trainings listed below are free and open to the public. Those interested in attending should pre-register with the SBDC office at https://asbdc.ecenterdirect.com/events/10067.
Mosley explained that the six-week virtual tech support program will provide entrepreneurs with training, tools and a network of similar businesses to help them establish and improve an effective digital presence. Classes will take place on Zoom from August 1st to September 5th, every Thursday from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
“For our Digital Marketing course, the SBDC has partnered with GoDaddy to provide Alabama business owners with premium digital marketing curriculum, expert support and services,” Mosley said. “Topics covered in the course include brand evaluation, designing a great website, creating site content, building an e-commerce and social media presence, technical assistance with building a website and more.”

Mosley emphasized that all participants must prove their company's existence through a business license, certificate of existence, LLC paperwork or other official means. Pre-registration and completion of an entrepreneurial questionnaire are required to attend the course.
“This course gives students the resources to create the website they've always wanted and empowers them to add their own content with confidence. They also receive two years of free web hosting, a domain name, business email and online technical support,” Mosley said. “To participate in the program, you must already be established as a new or existing business and be headquartered in Alabama.”
