CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — West Texas A&M University announced that Dr. Deano Diamond will become vice provost for university branding and chief marketing officer, effective April 8.
WT officials detailed that Dearmond served as WT associate dean for graduate school and research and the Paul Engler Professor of Management.
“Dr. De'Armond brings deep knowledge of WT, academic knowledge in marketing-related fields, and hands-on experience building digital marketing platforms in higher education to this role,” said Todd, vice president of philanthropy and external relations. Dr. Raspberry said. “We are excited to have DeArno build on the foundation laid to propel university marketing efforts into the rapidly evolving and competitive world of digital marketing.”
The new role was previously held by Kelly Carper Polden, who currently serves as WT's director of corporate and foundation relations.
“Given the importance of digital marketing and the strategic direction WT is taking through its marketing efforts, it makes sense for the role to evolve,” Raspberry said.
Mr. Dearmond is a graduate of West Virginia University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in marketing and an MBA, according to people familiar with the matter. He then completed his Ph.D. He received his PhD in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University.
Dr. Almond began working as an adjunct instructor at the Engler College of Business in 2001 after transitioning from technology-based multinational companies to academia. He subsequently received a full professorship in addition to three endowed professorships. Additionally, he was appointed Paul Engler Professor of Management in 2009 and joined the Graduate School's management team in 2021.
