The City of Crookston officially hired the city's first ever Marketing and Events Coordinator on April 1, 2024. The City of Crookston now has Keenan DeVere as its newest employee.
Devier spent much of his childhood in Georgetown, Minnesota, and later moved to Devil's Lake, North Dakota. Mr. Devier ultimately graduated from Lakota High School in North Dakota and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration/marketing from the University of North Dakota in 2020.
Ms. Devier began her marketing career with an internship in UND’s marketing department, where she managed social media accounts and worked on general administrative tasks for the department. “I did a marketing internship during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Devier said. “And it was interesting to try out how to develop content from my dorm room. But it was one of my first experiences in this field.”
After college, Devier took a marketing and sales position at IHeart Media in Grand Forks, where she worked with local businesses on advertising through radio, social media, digital display, and email services.
Mr. Devier visited Crookston on various occasions before accepting a new marketing position with the city. His sister is a 2022 UMC graduate of hers, and DeVere was able to see everything Crookston has to offer during his visit. “I got to know her community by visiting her and having her come and go every August,” Devier said. But at that point I got to know the campus. Spending these four years with her in Crookston allowed me to get to know the area pretty well, even though I had never lived there before. I still have a lot to learn about the community, but I feel like I've learned a lot over the past few weeks in Crookston. ”
Mr. Devier developed a three-month plan to establish his role in the city. One of his most important issues facing the town is the accessibility and visibility of the city website, and Mr. Devier is passionate about improving it. “The website is not as up-to-date as it needs to be,” Devier says. “We need updated information and we need a complete renovation. We just need to start over.”
In addition to improving the website, Devier said one of his many goals as the city's marketing and events coordinator is to promote city events and showcase local organizations' efforts to bring the community together during meetings. I explained that there is.
