Vision Pro's head of marketing leaves Apple
According to reports, Casanova confirmed his retirement via his LinkedIn profile. Mr. Casanova has been with his Apple for a long time and has held various roles over the years. In 1997, he became senior director of graphics for Mac OS X. Ten years later, he moved to the marketing team to help Apple expand his iPhone to new carriers around the world.
In 2019, Apple selected him to lead marketing for augmented reality tools, which resulted in him being given a key role in the development and launch of Apple Vision Pro.
Vision Pro was announced in June 2023 and released in the US in February of the same year. During the launch, Casanova was spotted attending the Vision Pro launch day at Apple The Grove store in Los Angeles. Joining him were Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of services, and Dan Riccio, who oversaw the development of the headset.
Vision Pro's launch was modest due to its high price of $3,499 and limited availability. Analysts expect Apple to ship about 400,000 headsets by the end of the year, compared with earlier expectations of up to 800,000.
