Spice Girls star Mel B has signed on to star in Holly Willoughby's new reality series, according to reports.
Mel, 48, whose real name is Melanie Brown, is said to have signed up for Netflix's new reality show Bear Hunt, starring Bear Grylls.
Inside sources say the six-figure sum convinced her to take part in the TV competition in which celebrities use their survival instincts to defeat expert bears in a series of challenges.
Mel is said to have flown to Costa Rica this week to join the line-up as filming begins – with no premiere date set yet, but it is expected to hit screens in 2025.
The show will see Bear teach celebrities the best survival techniques he's learned over the years, before tracking them down through the woods. He tries to capture them, and those who evade capture win a bounty.
According to The Sun, “Mel told friends he went on a bear hunt to raise money for his lavish wedding to hairdresser Rory McPhee at St Paul's Cathedral in London. “I did.”
Mel explained to them earlier this year: “Because I have an MBE, I am allowed to get married at St. Paul's.'' They only do a few weddings a year so we are on the waiting list. ”
She went on to say that while the rest of the Spice Girls will be invited, “they won't be bridesmaids, because we're all too old.”
Former rugby player Danny Cipriani is also rumored to be involved in Bear Hunt, although the full lineup has yet to be officially announced by Netflix.
The streaming giant announced the series in a statement. “Bear believes there are action heroes in all of us, even celebrities, but how strong is their will to survive?”
“The Bear puts them through their paces and those who fail to impress will face the dreaded 'Bear Hunt.' This is a brutal cat-and-mouse game in which they are cornered and eliminated from the show if caught. ”
For Mel, if there's any chance of a Spice Girls reunion at a future wedding, it's only recently that all five attended Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday party in London earlier this month. This is the second time.
Mel B, Melanie C, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner all attended the big party, and Victoria's husband David made sure to capture the evidence on video.
The five performed their biggest hit, 'Stop', and the former England footballer filmed the performance on his mobile phone.
As a result of the virality of this video, the odds of the Spice Girls performing at Glastonbury have since been significantly reduced.
Coral spokesperson John Hill said: “Following the Spice Girls' surprise performance at Victoria Beckham's birthday party, we have strong support for the 90s girl group to perform at Glastonbury in 2025. was seen,” he said.
“We have reduced the probability of all five girls lining up on the Pyramid Stage by half.” [in 2025]. ”
