What's happening at the market: Sequim Farmers & Artisans Market returns Saturday
The Sequim Farmers & Artisans Market season begins on Saturday, May 4th, so mark your calendars, call a friend, and get your reusable bags ready.
This year, the market will feature 47 vendors, offering weekly activities for children and a fundraising matching program to help more people in the community access good food.
The market will be held every Saturday from 9am to 2pm until the end of October.
This Saturday at 9 a.m. in front of the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., the market will open with our annual ribbon-cutting event and the first 50 people with reusable bags will receive $2 vouchers. . The first Saturday of each month is also “Kids Day,” where the first 50 children receive a $3 coupon toward the purchase of fruits and vegetables. At 12:30 p.m., the Sequim High School Operetta Club will stop by to perform a few songs from the musical comedy “The Addams Family.”
Last season, the market offered free children's activities once a month to give young children a chance to play and make friends in the community. It was so popular that a kids activity booth will be set up every market day this season. This Saturday, young people can try their hand at Wool His Fiber Art, presented by Wild Child Art Education Instructor His Myco.
One of the ways markets create access to healthy, locally grown food is through market-matching growth programs with healthy community banks. If you have a SNAP/EBT, WIC, or Senior FMNP card, you may be eligible to receive additional funds that can be used for certain foods at the market. The amount eligible for each program varies depending on the season, so be sure to visit the market information booth for details.
This season's Sequim Farmers & Artisans Market is filled with delicious food, great music, and lots of fun.
