Will an existing sponsor of nearly 25 years leave and be replaced by a new sponsor with no professional sports sponsorship experience? Especially in the banking industry, ownership typically means much more than sponsorship revenue. This seems like a tough position to be in.
So I would like to commend Matt Yonan for Tigris Sponsorship & Marketing. Matt Yonan represented Ent Credit Union in negotiating the new Broncos sponsorship. Despite its status as Colorado's largest credit union with $9.8 billion in assets and more than 538,000 members, the deal with the Broncos marks Ent's first professional sports sponsorship deal.
US Bank has had these rights since 1999.
Yonan said the deal took about eight weeks from the first meeting to signing. This is an efficient exercise, given that the deal includes rights to a wide range of financial services and important categories such as mortgages, current accounts, and co-branded cards.
Assets in the deal include fixed and digital venue signage and team-managed media, including digital and social. The agreement also includes naming rights for Mile High's Empower Field suite level.
Activities, including broader community outreach, are handled in-house by the credit union.
