Special event travel boosts Airbnb
Airbnb reported strong quarterly results and was very optimistic about the summer travel season. A big reason for this is that people are eager to travel for special events.
A whopping 500,000 guests booked stays on Airbnb during last month's North American total solar eclipse. During the upcoming Summer Olympics, bookings in Paris will be five times his previous year's. Meanwhile, German cities also saw a doubling of Airbnb bookings during this summer's Eurocup soccer tournament.
This is further evidence that despite continued concerns about the economy, consumers are still spending heavily on travel and entertainment experiences.
