ISLAMABAD: The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) on Saturday issued warning notices to 12 cosmetics manufacturers for engaging in “greenwashing” by falsely labeling their products as “organic or chemical-free.” .
In a statement, the commission said it had become aware of deceptive marketing by beauty product manufacturers and issued notices against false and misleading claims.
The commission's preliminary investigation found that these companies promote their products as “natural, organic, sustainable, pure, chemical-free” and label them as “green” without any scientific evidence to support their claims. It has become clear that he was engaged in “washing”.
“Such unsubstantiated marketing claims can not only mislead consumers but also pose potential health risks to unwary users.
