Derek Jeter's longtime lake home near the New York/New Jersey border, known locally as Greenwood Lake's “Castle,” is back on the market at a significantly reduced price.
The home was listed this week for $6.3 million, but previously traded for nearly $15 million. The property dates back to his 1903 year and has been associated with Jeter's family for more than 70 years.
The former New York Yankees shortstop took over ownership of the property from the Tiedemann Family Trust in the early 2000s. The existing house had been partitioned into apartments and was in disrepair. The property was originally built in 1903 by New York City physician Rudolph Goudeville for his wife. Jeter's grandfather, William Connors, continued to live on the property after Jeter's death. It was adopted by John Tiedemann and his wife Julia Tiedemann, who purchased this place in 1952.

The transformation under Jeter's ownership resulted in the development of a three-lot property with a main house, guest house, pool house, and boathouse. The grounds include an infinity pool, intricately landscaped gardens, and a lagoon surrounded by a 6-foot stone wall. Located on the west side of Greenwood Lake, the approximately 4-acre property also includes 700 feet of lakefront.
Located at 14 Lake Shore Road in Warwick, New York, this stone house is distinguished by its two towers, which give it its castle nickname. There are 2 conference rooms, 6 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, and 5 kitchens. 4 are indoors. One of the homes is outdoors and has a wood-burning fireplace, according to Wright Brothers Real Estate's online listing. Annual property taxes are approximately $75,000, the property listing continues.
Jeter, a first-ballot Hall of Famer who spent his entire career with the Yankees, retired from baseball in 2014. He served as co-owner and CEO of the Miami Marlins from September 2017 to February 2022. In early 2018, he put his Greenwood Lake home on the market for $14.75 million, before lowering the price to $12.75 in 2021.

Jeter, who grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, was born at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pequannock. For a short time thereafter, he lived in North Arlington.
Local residents said Jeter's parents frequently visited their Greenwood Lake home, but Jeter was rarely seen in the area.
