A quick look at the “SEO” subreddit reveals a ton of posts lamenting the demise of affiliate sites. “I used to have 20+ affiliate sites and they’re just not worth it anymore,” says one person. One user.
In the “Affiliate Marketing” subreddit, Recent Posts A post titled “Is it worth getting into the affiliate market now?” got some upbeat responses, with people saying newsletters and videos are the best way to go, but the majority of comments sternly warned the OP not to approach Google to start an affiliate program.
“Don't start a blog and expect traffic from Google, Google won't make you any money… They've been tossing affiliates in the trash for a while now, but from what I understand, this last update was basically an extinction level event for small blogs.”
“SEO is dead for affiliates and small blogs…Google won’t rank your content anymore, no matter how good the quality is.”
