To mark the International Day of the African Child, students from various schools were exposed to the digital possibilities in online marketing and solutions education. The children were taught how to use tools such as YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp, coding, AI, robotics, animation, etc. to trade, acquire solutions, and advance in a global perspective.
The enthusiastic students described digital literacy as fascinating and expressed interest in furthering their careers by using technology to provide solutions to societal problems. They were mentored by experts including Dr Victor Odunuiwa, Mr Edukgo Aminan, Mr Mojisola Fagbohunle and Mr David Mark, a Computer Science Honours graduate.
The event themed: “Education for every African child, the time is now” was held at the University of Lagos Nitubu Centre where participants were also exposed to digital buying and selling, solutions education, right to education and technological tools that will broaden students’ horizons.Master Adedeji Victor Osamagube, an SS1 student of the International School, University of Lagos, said the programme had ignited his enthusiasm to explore opportunities in the world of technology.
Osamabe, who hopes to study medicine, said that with the help of technology he has been exposed to, he will be able to find solutions to common ailments that plague humanity. “I want to use search engines to explore medicine and use my research to help solve social problems,” he said.
