Logan Paul is doing all he can to help Dillon Danis meet up with him in the UK.
Following the announcement of his boxing match against Danis, which is set to take place on October 14th in Manchester, Paul Impulsive On the podcast, he said he was prepared for the possibility that Danis would pull out of the fight. Danis was scheduled to fight KSI in January this year but pulled out 10 days before. KSI's manager, Momz Taylor, claimed it was because Danis struggled to make weight and was “not prepared.”
Danis, once a standout jiu-jitsu competitor, has not competed in a mixed martial arts match since June 2019. Acknowledging Danis' unreliability, Paul said there was a clause in his bout contract that could penalize Danis if he withdrew.
“That's my concern,” Paul said. “I'm pretty sure he's not going to play. Here's the clause: If he fakes some kind of injury and pulls out, and the doctor we selected verifies that injury and it was really faked, then he has to pay $100,000. There's a pull-out clause.”
When asked if Danis could afford to pay the fine, Paul accused Danis of not having the money and detailed his reasons for wanting to fight the controversial martial arts figure.
“That's the other problem,” Paul said. “He's broke. He's a jerk. He's a parasite on the MMA and martial arts world. That's why I took the fight in the first place. If he shows up, I can erase him with an eraser. His name will never be spoken again. He dies twice that night. Physically, his name, his accomplishments, everything will be erased. The word 'accomplishments' doesn't go in the same sentence as Dillon Danis. But I thought he was a good opponent because he's a bad boy and claims to be able to fight but doesn't show up to fight. But if he shows up, we're definitely going to give him a shot.
“I'm angry and upset. You know I'm fired up. I'm confident in my boxing abilities and it's a good idea to dominate two sports at the same time. October 14th is going to be crazy. It's definitely going to be an unforgettable night.”
Paul has boxed three times, facing KSI in an amateur bout to a majority draw, then losing a split decision in a professional bout and then fighting Floyd Mayweather in an eight-round exhibition bout that ended with no official winner.
His biggest concerns about the fight at this point are Danis' promotional strategy (“It's all fake,” Paul says, “so people will believe what he saw and I'd have to hire fact checkers and make Dillon a 'community note' in real life”) and that he may be directing too much attention at Danis.
“I hesitate as to whether he deserves all this attention,” Paul asked. “Does he deserve all this attention? Absolutely not. Does he deserve to be decapitated in the first 15 seconds of the first round? Absolutely.”
