Google expanded access to the option to add social media profiles to Google business listings back in October, and now it's added a new section within business listings in search that displays recent social media posts from connected profiles.
As you can see in this example shared by Search Engine Journal, Google Business Profiles now have a new subsection called “Social Media Updates,” which displays the latest posts from linked social apps: Business owners can connect their Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok and X accounts from the Google Business dashboard.
According to Google, social post previews will automatically appear based on the social profiles that are linked to your business. You can still manually link your social media accounts, but Google also notes: Automatically add social media links to eligible business profiles In some cases.
As mentioned above, last year Google More companies Add social media links to your Google Business Profileprovides another way to display social profile links within Google Search and Google Maps.
This new element builds on this, providing more context within your Google business listing and helping to drive interest in your products and services.
This is an interesting update and certainly another factor to consider in your Google business listing, given Google’s power to drive traffic.
