Malaysia The country is currently one of 15 countries that offers six-figure bonuses to athletes who win Olympic gold medals.
Forbes ranked Malaysia among the top five countries with the highest six-figure bonuses, coming in fourth with $214,000 (RM992,634).
Meanwhile, bronze medallists will reportedly receive 10 percent of the total bonus.
“Regardless of where they finish on the podium, Malaysian athletes will be entitled to a lifetime pension of approximately $400 (RM1,855) to $1,100 (RM5,101) per month,” Forbes reported.
Hong Kong topped the list with a massive prize of US$768,000 (RM3.5 million) for gold medallists, while Israel came second with US$275,000 (RM1.2 million) for gold medallists and Serbia came third with US$218,000 (about RM1 million) for gold medallists.

The New Straits Times earlier reported that the first Malaysian Olympic gold medallist will be provided with an additional 4 million ringgits in addition to a serviced apartment worth 1 million ringgits.
The prize money was generously provided by Malaysian companies to the winner, who won his first Olympic gold medal, in addition to 1 million ringgits from the government.
These donations were in addition to RM1 million through the National Sports Incentive Scheme (SHAKAM).
Inson Holdings donated RM1 million, while Matrix Concepts Holdings and MJ Health Screening Centre donated RM500,000 each.
