The Creative Challenge hub includes a list of summaries from TikTok's advertising partners. Creators can accomplish these “brand challenges” by uploading video ads that meet the criteria outlined. These videos will appear as ads in your For You feed. Payment amounts vary, and TikTok notes that Creative Challenge rewards are “affected by many factors, including the number of views, clicks, and conversions on the eligible video.”

“Creators are at the heart of TikTok, driving creativity, culture, and entertainment,” says a blog post introducing the Creative Challenge. “Representing a new generation of storytellers, the TikTok community is defining culture through engaging and impactful content, building new communities to inspire audiences, sparking conversations, and discovering the latest trends. It has a real-world impact.”
The Creative Challenge is reminiscent of Tongal, which became famous for allowing brands to crowdsource their creative campaigns. In his first 10 years, Tongal partnered with major media brands and offered five-figure prize pools.
To use the TikTok version of the service, creators must be at least 18 years old and have a U.S.-based TikTok account. 50,000 followers. Qualifying for the Creative His Challenge is only half the battle. Once creators gain access to this feature, they must deliver “high-quality, well-edited original content” in order to be approved for video ads.
If creating videos for your brand isn't your thing, there's another new TikTok monetization feature that might speed things up even more. The app is expanding its live subscriptions launched last year to rival the primary revenue model of streaming platforms such as Twitch. Starting today, creators who sell live subscriptions will be able to restrict certain videos to only their subscribers.
