If you're just starting out on the arduous journey of marketing your small business, you'll quickly get tripped up by advanced concepts like artificial intelligence (AI)-powered segmentation, omnichannel marketing automation, and SMS and social media marketing. These are all effective tools for diligent digital promotion. But one of the most effective tools is email marketing, which is one of the best tools for beginners to start with.
Even though email marketing has been around for almost as long as email itself, it still remains at the core of most digital marketing tool suites. But despite its history, this channel has kept up with the times and continues to be the best way to reach customers. EmailToolTesters recently compiled research on the latest email marketing strategies and trends based on data from Techjury, Statista, Content Marketing Institute, Salecycle, Blog HubSpot, Klaviyo, Campaign Monitor, GetResponse, and Constant Contact.
Despite some new ways to connect with customers (particularly social media), email channels remain widespread, with 4.3 billion people using email and more than 361.6 billion emails sent every day. The survey found that there are many. If you think email is like a fire hose with a high chance of getting lost, you're wrong. According to this study, his ROI for email marketing is currently calculated to be 4,400%, or approximately $44 in profit for every dollar spent on marketing campaigns.
The study also includes some interesting statistics about strategy. For example, when looking at what types of emails generate the highest revenue (which generally refers to the number of emails that are actually opened by potential customers), welcome emails have a high open rate of 82.21%. It tops the list in terms of percentage. The next best option was triggered email at 44.07%. Unfortunately, the most popular type of email for small businesses is the email newsletter because it's easy to create and provides value-added content to your audience. Research shows that these emails have the lowest open rate at 20.48%.
But the study is quick to point out that newsletters shouldn't be ignored. There are several ways to increase the effectiveness of all types of email content, especially newsletters, including personalization and autoresponders. Another option is to optimize your emails for the most popular email readers (Apple, Google, and Microsoft email readers), not only for desktop users but also for the rapidly increasing number of mobile users. It's about optimizing.
What's so exciting about email marketing is that top tools like Campaign Monitor, GetResponse, and Editor's Choice winner Mailchimp are all moving toward omnichannel marketing while keeping email at the heart of it. This means you can quickly build marketing campaigns that start with email and automatically switch to follow-up emails, social media engagement, or SMS (text) marketing as the customer experience changes.
