This position will assist the marketing and communications department with writing, content marketing, social media, digital communications, and marketing research.
Time required
This internship, which begins in May and ends in August, has flexible time requirements, with a minimum of 12-15 hours per week and a maximum of 20-23 hours per week over 14 weeks. The student must be able to work a consistent schedule during regular work hours (she prefers 3-4 days per week, but work days and days can be flexible).
duties and responsibilities
- We help market and promote Fort Wayne, Indiana as a leisure and convention destination.
- We help you research, create, and update blog posts, web content, print content, and social media content.
- Support local radio advertising activities.
- We support various social media campaigns for visitors and residents across multiple platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
- Participate in brainstorming about marketing and social media campaigns and initiatives.
- We support planning, preparation, and participation in CVB events and tourism-related projects.
- Participate in photo and video projects and help with planning, production, and editing.
- Research, maintain, and collect contact information for media lists and other databases;
- Other duties as assigned.
requirements
- Junior level preferred
- Major in communications, marketing, journalism, social media, or public relations preferred
- Excellent vocabulary, grammar, proofreading and editing skills
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge and experience in marketing, public relations, and social media marketing is helpful.
- Excellent knowledge and interest in the greater Fort Wayne area, including attractions, arts and cultural institutions, events, restaurants, and more.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred (but not required)
compensation
Interns will be paid a salary of $9.50 per hour. We strive to optimize recognition and networking opportunities and approve school credit where appropriate.
