Robert Plant performs a Led Zeppelin song stairway to heaven This is the first time in 16 years that fans have donated a six-figure sum to charity.
Led Zeppelin's performance of the iconic song was facilitated by a six-figure charitable donation, according to a new interview with Leaf and Goldray guitarist Kenwyn House, who played with Plant.
The performance took place at Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire last Saturday (21 October) and was hosted by former Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor to raise money for the Cancer Platform.
An evening with Andy Taylor and special guests There were also performances by Ella Henderson and former Pink Floyd bassist Guy Pratt, and an art auction featuring works by Banksy and Picasso.
“Someone made a huge bid for him to sing this song,” House explained to Led Zeppelin News. “There's a virtuous cycle of karma around it. That one song raised six figures for charity.”
“It was a combination of great excitement and fear… We literally only had four days to learn everything,” he explains.
“I had to play when Robert Plant walked into the room. stairway to heaven “My first time with him in a small, enclosed environment was probably the most high-pressure professional situation I've ever been in,” House continued. “I'm in a small room with my hero playing his most famous songs.”

The “six-figure” amount, or anonymous donor, has not been disclosed by Andy Taylor or the other organizers of the event.
Plant last performed “Stairway to Heaven'' in public at the O2 Arena in 2007, and it was later released in the Celebration Day concert film. However, in 2019 the frontman admitted he no longer “resonated” with the song.
