Nick Huband, director of real estate and facilities, said the funds raised by the car park changes – an increase of £239,000 in 2023 and £165,000 in 2022 – will be reinvested into the services the hospital provides. He said that it has been done.
It added that hospital staff have not been charged since the start of the coronavirus pandemic and there are no plans to reintroduce that policy.

He said: “Our car parks are the first point of contact with the hospital for many of our service users and we strive to maintain quality standards that reflect patient care.
“All proceeds from our car parks are reinvested into hospital services and patient care.
“We do our best to keep costs to a minimum for our visitors by offering our regular users the option to purchase a parking pass for a week or 10 times.
“To make your visit as easy as possible, we accept cash as well as card payments, and we have a dedicated drop-off point within the hospital grounds, offering 20 minutes of free parking.
“Staff parking fees have also been suspended since early 2020. There are currently no plans to reintroduce them.”
According to the latest NHS England statistics, £239,000 of RJAH's parking costs were covered by visitor payments.
This figure represents the total income earned by the NHS and does not take into account the NHS's own costs of providing car parking.
Nationally, there are more than 446,000 parking spaces available in NHS premises, down 3% on last year.
Of those, 1,070 are available across all Robert Jones Agnes Hunt Orthopedic Hospital facilities, down from 1,125 in 2022.
